Challenge

Online background removal services are slow, limited by file size, and send images to third-party servers. For commercial projects and e-commerce, a local tool was needed: fast, unlimited, with manual result refinement.

Solution

Built a desktop app on PyTorch with the RMBG-2.0 (BiRefNet) model. Three processing presets (512/1024/2048px), 4 edge refinement levels, background selection (transparent, white, black, custom color), built-in editor with restore brush, eraser, and 20-level undo. GPU acceleration via CUDA with automatic CPU fallback.
